Diagnosis and Treatment of Cardiac Sarcoidosis using Spandan ECG

Featured in “Medical Reports and Case Studies 2023”, this case study highlights the significant impact of the Spandan ECG device in managing a complex cardiac condition at Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial (LLRM) Medical College, Meerut.

The Case

What We Did

Initial Diagnosis & Care
PHASE 01

Initial Diagnosis & Care

A 30-year-old man under Dr. C.B. Pandey and LLRM Meerut's cardiology team care was diagnosed with ventricular tachycardia (VT). Treatment with amiodarone restored normal sinus rhythm (NSR), but further tests, including a 2D-ECHO, revealed cardiac sarcoidosis, confirmed by elevated ACE levels.

Continuous Monitoring
PHASE 02

Continuous Monitoring

Despite optimal care, the patient experienced recurrent VT episodes. He began using Spandan ECG for continuous monitoring, which consistently detected VT episodes. One ECG report in particular showed Wide QRS indicative of VT (LBBB Type), displaying a monomorphic pattern.

AICD Implantation
PHASE 03

AICD Implantation

Based on the Spandan ECG data, the patient had an Automatic Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillator (AICD) implanted for ongoing cardiac management by the LLRM Meerut cardiology team led by Dr. C.B. Pandey.

Follow-up Efficacy
PHASE 04

Follow-up Efficacy

Follow-up device reports displayed a normal ECG rhythm, affirming the efficacy of AICD implantation and ongoing monitoring in managing the patient's cardiac condition.

In Conclusion

This case, expertly managed by Dr. C.B. Pandey and the cardiology team at LLRM Meerut, demonstrates the potential of the Spandan ECG in early detection and continuous monitoring of cardiac conditions like ventricular tachycardia. The Spandan ECG provided essential data that informed treatment decisions and facilitated effective disease management, representing a breakthrough in cardiac care technology.
